As I drove on the Federal highway, I kept thinking about the number of things that were still outstanding on my to-do list.
By the time I reached Bungendore and saw Aranya Acres those thoughts had dissipated from my head.
I was welcomed by grazing sheep and alpacas and the smell of pine trees hung loosely in the air.
Aranya Acres tiny house was at the end of a picturesque road. The location was perfect. While only 10 minutes from Bungendore, it felt like I was miles away from civilisation. This weekend was about doing the things I don’t normally have time for at home and taking it slow. I read, I listened to music, I rested.
In the morning I woke up naturally and listened to bird songs. Despite being extremely cold outside - the creek that runs near the tiny house had its top layer frozen and the landscape was a subtle shade of cool white – inside the house was warm and comfy, and you would not be remiss for thinking that it was a Summer’s day. I stayed in bed for as long as possible with a hot cup from the complimentary coffee machine before heading to Bungendore.
The crisp air enhanced the pine scent which I wanted to bottle and bring home with me – a small reminder of my weekend away.
Bungendore has a rural charm to it. There are a number of craft and art stores, and as a cool climate region, the wineries and trufferies in the area seem to thrive in winter.
Before heading home, I popped by Gathering café for a cup of chai and their potato cakes.
A well-rested weekend getaway.
